In my travels of the roads and the internet, I've come across some odd and old campers. Some were quite an innovative concept for the era in which they were built, a few I wouldn't mind having one of myself.
The most interesting ones I've found so far are Kamp King Koaches, they had both the option of a rear Snap-N-Nap similar to the products that Amerigo produce in the same era, but also the option of a pop up roof and a roof deck, something I have yet to ever see again in Truck Campers.
There was quite alot of innovation lost when the Gas Prices soared during the OPEC embargo and later during the Carter Recession.
"All Kamp King Koaches carry a lifetime warranty in writing to the original owner" - There's something you'll never see on a Camper today!

I'm the original owner of a Kamp King and chuckle at their "we will be here Tomorrow" statement and would ask how their lifetime warranty works?
ReplyDeleteI think it works about as well as my Lifetime warranty against leaks on my old aluminum truck cap that I have for my pickup ;).
ReplyDeletePretty sweet. I had no idea these things existed. I'd love to see one.
ReplyDeleteLol, "The ultimate in passenger protection"...

DeleteWhich model do you have? Kamp King made a lot of different models, much like Bel-Air Campers, who looked very similar to Kamp King.
ReplyDeleteNot sure - the id tag is pretty beat up. It does have the skyrider cab, and is approx 10 ft long. does not have the roof patio tho.
ReplyDeleteLooks exactly like the one on the "brochure".
Only difference I can see is the referigerator access is higher up the side (upper half not lower half. Will try to get pics posted somewhere after the weekend.
if you still have the kamp king, I'd be interested in buying it from you. Rob

DeleteI have a 67' Kamp King camper that I've been restoring for a few years now. My model has a picture window down the passenger side that rivels the windows found in much much larger trailers or RV's. No matter where we camp in Western Canada we always get comments and questions about our Kamp King.
ReplyDeleteI am selling a 1967 Kamp King, I can get the model but it looks a lot like the one in the picture with the 67 (or so) White chevy truck. except the bed area is not as tall, it is not the skyrider model. does have wrap around windows in front. Great condition. jollygreengiant1973@yahoo.com. in Washington state.
